The 'mainstream' news is committing harakiri on social media channels by handing over its content, time, and credibility to platforms that thrive on hate, disinformation, and the profit of a few.
Hosted by Professor of Journalism, Santiago Giraldo Luque, this Growth lab LIVE talk confronts what happens when journalism hands its credibility to virality, when young people’s mental health is compromised by constant shock and lies, and when democracy is hollowed out by content designed to deceive.
In the wake of any major event, a tidal wave of misinformation usually explodes online: false political claims, misattributed videos, conspiracy theories—all before the truth is actually confirmed. But there is a counter-direction: we’ll explore how journalism can reclaim independence, restore trust, and serve society beyond the ruthless logic of clicks. This is a once-only chance to unplug and see clearly.
