The Science of Breathwork & Cold Therapy: Resilience, Recovery and Balance

What if the key to stress resilience, sharper focus, and faster recovery was already built into your body?

In this Growth Lab LIVE, we break down the science behind two of today’s most powerful wellness practices: conscious breathwork and cold exposure. Blending ancient wisdom with modern physiology, you’ll discover how these accessible tools directly impact the nervous system, shifting the body between fight-or-flight and deep rest.

We’ll explore how intentional breathing regulates oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood, rewires stress responses, and lays the groundwork for emotional balance. Then, we’ll dive into the cold—examining how ice baths, cold showers, and other techniques spark circulation, activate brown fat, reduce inflammation, and boost mood through natural neurotransmitters.

By combining breath and cold, this session offers a deep insight both the science and the practice behind human performance and well-being. Whether you’re curious to try these methods for the first time or looking to deepen your understanding, you’ll walk away with practical strategies to strengthen body, mind, and resilience from the inside out.

About the Speaker:

Macarena Musante is the founder of Ocean Breath Barcelona, has traveled to more than 50 countries studying yoga, breathwork, freediving, and cold exposure. It was after a serious motorcycle accident in Thailand, three surgeries to recover her knee, and a rehabilitation process to walk again that she became passionate about the healing power of breathing. She dedicated herself to exploring different breathwork techniques in Bali and the power of apnea and freediving, earning her certification in the Canary Islands. Due to the chronic pain she experienced, she trained in cold exposure and ice baths. All this knowledge, combined with her Master's degree in Neuroscience, allowed her to give a scientific basis to her courses and training. She is currently based in Barcelona and teaches courses in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
